President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed King Charles and Queen Camilla at the White House on Monday. The four exchanged a few words in front of the cameras before continuing the visit, and now, a lip-reading expert has revealed that Trump gave Charles a ‘sinister’ warning after mentioning Vladimir Putin.
On Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in the U.S on the first state visit by a monarch since 2007. The couple was greeted by President Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.
After taking some pictures with photographers, they walked down to the White House South Lawn, where Melania gave a tour of her newly unveiled beehive.
The Trumps and the royal couple also spent time together over a cup of tea at the White House before attending a garden party at the British ambassador’s residence.
The state visit comes at a time when relations between the U.S. and the UK are strained, not least following the Iran war. Meanwhile, the UK government hopes that King Charles and Queen Camilla can help restore the strong relationship between the countries.
While King Charles and no other member of the royal family are talking politics, Donald Trump appeared to at least try to discuss the Iran war with King Charles.
Lip reader shares Donald Trump’s personal warning to King Charles
According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Trump whispered a few words to King Charles, where he addressed the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday and the conflict in Iran. Moreover, Trump addressed his recent talks with Vladimir Putin.
“I’d rather not stand about here too long,” King Charles told Trump, Hickling revealed to the Daily Mail. “I feel I shouldn’t be here.”
Trump then asked King Charles if he was OK and said, “It’s not a good thing. I wasn’t prepared, but now I am prepared.”
“So right now, I am talking to Putin. He wants war, the U.S President continued, to which Charles responded that he would discuss the topic later.
However, Trump didn’t stop. Instead, he said, “I’ve got a feeling… if he did what he said, he will wipe out the population.”
King Charles tried to switch the topic, saying, “Another time.”
King Charles 4-day visit to the UK is to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence. In addition to other meetings with Trump and a possible address to Congress, the royal couple will also visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York City and travel to Virginia for community engagements.
