The young couple tried to navigate parenthood while still living separately with their families. April shared a bedroom with her older sister, who helped with bottle feedings, while Nathan lived a few miles away with his parents. Although April was determined to be “the best mother she could,” the relationship between her and Nathan began to fade. Within a few years, they separated, and by 2014 April admitted they were no longer in contact. She left school to care for Jamie full time, leaning heavily on the support of her mother and sister.
Today, their lives have taken very different but hopeful paths. April, now 28, goes by April Lianna and is a mother of three: Jamie Rhys, Ava Lianne, and Rowan David.
