You’ve got it right: Jill Biden announced she’s retiring from teaching after 40 years, saying she’d just taught her final class at Northern Virginia Community College during a virtual thank-you event with educators.
She’d been an English/writing professor at NOVA since 2009—and was the first First Lady to keep a full-time job while in the White House.
“Being your First Lady has been the honor of my life. But being your colleague has been the work of my life,” she said.
NOVA’s president praised her impact on students and the college, closing a chapter that began in the 1970s and included stints at high schools and Delaware Tech before NOVA.
