At some point in any relationship, we’re likely to ask our partner certain questions. These may range from hypothetical scenarios about what they would do if something happened to us, to more personal inquiries about their past.
One common question that often arises early in a relationship is about the number of past partners each person has had. While it’s not always an easy conversation to have, it tends to come up.
In the following joke, both the man and the woman ask each other this very question—though it’s taken to an exaggerated, humorous extreme. You’ll see what happens at the end, and I’m sure it’ll leave you laughing.
A newlywed couple is lying in bed when the husband asks his wife how many men she has dated. She doesn’t respond and just stares at the ceiling.
The husband presses on, saying, “Come on, just tell me. How many men have you been with? It’s okay, I’ll understand.” Still, the wife remains silent, eyes fixed above.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you,” he says, realizing his words might have made her uncomfortable. “I thought we could have an open and trusting relationship.”
Despite his attempts to reassure her, his wife continues to stay quiet. He finally gives in, saying, “Alright, it’s fine. Please don’t be upset.”
Yet, the wife doesn’t respond to his gestures of comfort. In an effort to bring them closer, the husband wraps her in a hug and kisses her tenderly, holding her close.
At last, after some time, the wife turns from staring at the ceiling to face her husband with a look of frustration. With a touch of exasperation, she exclaims, “Oh, come on! You’ve made me lose count!”
